Dave and Brian's Excellent Vacation

Previous -- Vacation Home -- Next

This is the account of the vacation Brian & I took in October of 1999. Jim joined us (or we joined him) for part of the trip as well.

During the trip, I took a lot of notes, as well as a lot of pictures. These pages are the edited version of those notes and pictures. I hope you enjoy them.

Where you see the asterisk symbol ( ), it points to a footnote or digression. If you have JavaScript enabled, simply rolling your mouse over the asterisk should open up a new window containing the footnote text. If not, you can click on it to get to the text.

Also, the images all have high resolution versions linked to them. They are set to open in a new window when you click on the image. I do this so you can resize that new window without having to worry about the page doing funny things if you resize it. Some of the pictures are very large in pixels, but the largest is 220k, and the average is about 50k. If you're on a slow connection, you may not want to click all the pictures.

One thing that you may notice is that especially on the first revisions of these notes, the days where we saw the most, I have the least to say. That's because I was writing (didn't take the computer along) mostly on trains and other times and places where I had time to kill. I'll be going back and filling in details as time passes, but if a section seems sparse, it's not because things weren't interesting, it's because I was too busy enjoying them to do a lot of writing.
