4. February, 2009 - Making progress

Yeah, it’s winter. And yeah, it’s cold again (though that’s supposed to change tomorrow as we get some more melting). But surprisingly, I’ve been a little productive around home lately. Last weekend, I managed to clean almost all of the “stuff” out of my library, so it’s just got books, and furniture and the things that belong there. I still need to figure out where to store the extra shelves for the book-cases and unpack one particularly troublesome box of books, but it’s almost turned into a real room.

On the Roomba front, after seven consecutive days of successful cleaning missions, it seems to have gone into a slump. I’ve now had four days in which it failed to complete its rounds and make it home to its charging station. But the upstairs is significantly cleaner than it has been for years, and that’s largely due to the little robot that sometimes can. I was ready to buy one for the downstairs (in part because it would prompt me to pick up the clutter), but with the recent failures, I think I’ll be waiting a couple more weeks. I also want to research the battery life issue. Sounds like the batteries are only good for two years and cost $70 to replace. That seems a little steep, but I can probably live with it.

And that’s about it for now. There are signs of spring on the way, such as the Bud Shootout this weekend and pitchers and catchers reporting in ten days, but we’re still solidly in winter here in Minnesota, and that’s going to last for a while yet. I expect my updates will remain spotty, but I’ll try to do better than January’s three.
