There’s a reason it’s worth a lot of money to the sponsors. As for why the racing’s popular, there are a lot of folks who are ignoring the geek-factor. Setting up a car is a complicated thing, but there are a lot of geeks who do virtual racing over the ’net and spend a ton of time trying to get the setup on the cars just right.
